A furious Katherine Jenkins has hit back at unflattering comments allegedly made by David Beckham concerning the OBE she received in 2014, which he called "a f***ing joke".
Emails apparently written by Beckham to his agent Simon Oliveira in December 2013 were leaked on the Football Leaks website over the weekend, and showed how angry Beckham was at not receiving a knighthood in the 2014 New Year's Honours List.
He had been so hotly tipped to receive the honour that bookmakers had stopped taking bets.
In an email to said of the honours committee, “They’re a bunch of c**** I expected nothing less. It’s a disgrace to be honest and if I was American I would [have] got something like this 10 years ago.”
Instead he hit out at the award the singer received that year, saying: “Katherine Jenkins OBE for what? Singing at the rugby and going to see the troops plus taking coke. F***ing joke.”
Her manager, Professor Jonathan Shalit, told The Sun, “I say Katherine was awarded an OBEfor her services to music and charity.
“With regards to the taking of coke which Katherine has courageously publicly admitted with great honesty — this was when she was in her early 20s still studying, over a decade before she was awarded her OBE and started her recording career.”
Her staff also issued a "fact sheet" to the Mirror , listing her achievements for charity, including trips to sing for the troops in active war zones, her trusteeships for various military charities, and her singing success.
Beckham, who was made OBE in 2003, has remained silent since news of the emails broke.
His photographer son Brooklyn subsequently posted a sweet Instagram picture of his father holding sister Harper.
