Diana Bellamy, a popular legit, TV and film character actress who essayed roles in such films as “Air Force One” and “Outrageous Fortune,” died June 17 of cancer at her home in Valley Village, Calif. She was 57.

Bellamy is perhaps best known for her starring role as head nurse Maggie Poole in the NBC comedy “13 East,” which aired during the 1989-90 season. She also appeared on “Married… With Children,” “Life Goes On” and “Popular.”

Legit roles included “The House of Blue Leaves” at the Pasadena Playhouse, “The Skin of Our Teeth” at the Old Globe in San Diego and the title role in “Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You” at Theater Geo in Los Angeles.

During the last five years, she suffered from cancer, diabetes and blindness. In spite of the seemingly insurmountable physical challenges, she continued to win roles including that of the handicapped Mrs. Nichols in Dorothy Parker’s “The Ladies of the Corridor” at the Tamarind Theater.
